Swat It Away

Someone cuts you off on the highway and chooses an unflattering hand movement…A co-worker snaps at you during a meeting…A customer tears into you in front of everyone… Someone may cut you down with a subtle insult.

Any of these scenarios could really set the tone for the next hour or entire day in a pretty negative manner…that is if you ALLOW it to.

Ali Brown has a great visualization for situations like this. Simply imagine the sources of these intimidations as biting flies. Yes, that’s right! And what do you do when a fly bites you? You don’t let it continue to hurt you and then ruminate over it the rest of the day…instead you swat it away, walk away, and forget about it!

The thing is, flies don’t know any better. It’s what they do. The same holds true for some people. Remember, it’s usually about them and what they are dealing with. Use situations like these as learning experiences for yourself. You might even go as far as to silently wish them peace, happiness, and a day filled with ease! That always makes me feel better!

Wishes to you for a beautiful day!
