Mise En Place

Mise en place (French pronunciation: [mi zɑ̃ ˈplas]) is a French phrase that means “putting in place”, as in set up. It is used in professional kitchens to refer to organizing and arranging the ingredients…

I recently heard this term from a friend and love it! Of course it makes complete sense when applying its meaning to cooking…but what a great analogy for everything in life. Relationships, career, raising children, acting as the caregiver for elderly parents, improving our health, building a home, planning a trip, starting a business. The list goes on and on.

Putting the appropriate tools in place is key prior to taking action. Without the preparation, our chances at fulfilling our dreams and goals are lessened.

Think of your goals today and applying mise en place, write out what “ingredients” need to be in place before you move forward. Good luck and happy cooking!

All my best,

Meg
