Let it Go

“Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”

~Eckhart Tolle

We all hang on to certain memories, people, objects, ideas, habits, or thoughts. How are these attachments serving us? Are they helping or hindering our growth? Are they creating peace or joy? Do they bring out the best or worse in us? Why are we unable or unwilling to let it all go? Does what we are holding on to block out all the good stuff knocking at our doors?

If totally letting go feels overwhelming, try releasing it just for today. A fun exercise is to write out your concern on a piece of paper, fold it up, and place in a special “worry box.” This act gives your mind a break on the issue at hand. Give yourself the gift of freedom for today, this week or the month. Pay attention to how you feel mentally, physically, and emotionally. At some point you will have the courage to make the decision to either seek further insight, or allow closure by letting go.
