The Daly Gem: Intentional Self Care

What a time we are experiencing in this world. So much to take in and for many of you, it may be evoking feelings of uncertainty and stress. I think all of this in a way is a type of reset being imposed on us whether it’s welcomed or not.

Speaking with a client today reminded me of the power of intentionality. Finding purpose, flow, and routine in our days is a way to stay grounded and centered in what can often be worrisome times. Rituals, staying present, and embracing real connection will help alleviate the personal pain that results from the hurt being imposed on the world right now.

Crafting your day with intention can bring joy in unexpected moments. Choosing to infuse a sense of tranquility in your environment through even the simplest of pleasures can oftentimes create the most impact.

What are you doing to care for yourself? Maybe it’s taking the time for a cup of tea and snack in the afternoon, using your china for dinner, having the candles lit, playing relaxing music, or even fresh sheets every few nights? You have the time so why not throw in 5 minutes to iron the pillowcases as well?!

The thing is, we have a choice. We can look at this time and complain… or we can get to work in other ways. Spring cleaning your home, automating “systems” like online payment of bills, or deciding once and for all to cancel some online memberships etc.

Using this time to reset, organize, and prepare will make it that much easier to step back into “real” life. Perhaps when we do return to normal, the new “normal” will have shifted a bit to include more tranquility, more ease, and more intention. Maybe that’s the silver lining to all of this.

I’d love to hear more of what you are doing during this “retreat” so I can share with everyone. Here are a few ideas to help you have fun, practice self-care, and enjoy this time of “being.”

Be safe and healthy.

With love,

Meg

During this time of social distancing, there is more time to plan, reflect and just be still. It is also a perfect time to connect with family and friends. A handwritten note is a perfect way to connect. This week, write notes to 5 people to let them know you are thinking of them and tell them why you are grateful for them.
