Think about this for a second… today and everything about it has never happened nor will it ever happen again. It is unique in its own right.
Look around and use all your senses. The birds you hear, the people you see, the foods you taste today, the things you touch… all of them are once in a lifetime mini experiences.
Looking through the lens of life this way encourages conscious living. Consciously making choices on how we spend our time and who we spend it with.
Take, for example, summertime. So many options to choose from. Festivals, road trips, cookouts, concerts, etc.
Think about responsibilities at work. Your to-do list, what your team needs from you, what your boss needs from you…
How do we make the most of this day and make choices that will catapult us into momentum for positive tomorrows?
If you are feeling overwhelmed about all the choices AND responsibilities, simply use the same tactics home organizers use to declutter, for example, a closet!
Is it necessary?
Do you love it?
Is it useful?
Can you give it away? (delegate)
Is it possible to throw it away? (delete!)
Does it align with who you are?
Just as we clean, declutter, organize, and maintain our physical environment, so must we do the same with our time.
For example…
You’re invited out for happy hour after work with your co-workers:
Do you love the idea?
Does it feel like a “YES!”… or a heavy ” I SHOULD go because….”
You are faced with a new job opportunity:
Does it intuitively feel like a good move?
Does it align with who you are and the goals you have for your career?
Does it feel like a fresh start?
A fun tool to use over the next few days to get comfortable with checking in with your “internal wi fi” regarding decisions about how you spend your time (and thus your life!)…
Set your alarm to ring 3 time throughout the day. One in the morning, one at noon, and one in the evening before bed.
When it rings, pause and ask yourself “Do the choices I have made thus far today been in alignment with how I want to feel and what I want to accomplish today?””
When we live more consciously with intention, we begin to make choices that come from a place of authenticity. When we practice authenticity it’s as if we are honoring ourselves in a sacred way… and when we begin to honor our time, other people start to as well.
Happy Decluttering!
Meg
