Meet Meg Daly
Wildwood Forest Storyteller In Residence
An Ethereal Experience
While walking through the forest with the hounds one morning, I experienced a quiet moment that changed my life forever.
Leaning against a tree, trying to calm the anxiety and sickness I felt after once again drinking the night before, a voice spoke — both within me and around me. I was startled by what it said: “For the next year, you will remove alcohol from your life by living as though you are living in a Jane Austen movie.”
I remember stepping away from the tree, looking around, and thinking, “Well… that was strange.”
This wasn’t the first time enchantment came calling in the forest. But it was the first time I took action immediately on the information received.
Calling the hounds back, I began walking home with a newfound energy I hadn’t felt in quite some time. I didn’t fully understand what the year would become, but I knew something magical had occurred.
What I know now, looking back, is that what I received that morning was a gift from the forest. One year later, I was fifty pounds lighter, alcohol had lost its place in my life, and my body, energy, and mind were clearer… and so was my intuition.
I fully committed...
When I tell people I spent a year living as though I were the heroine of a Jane Austen movie, they often imagine long dresses, tea parties, and Bridgerton-like decor. But I wasn’t trying to live the past. I was trying to move into a new way of living. In order to do so, I instilled the feelings I wanted to feel into a muse called Elegant Evelyn. She is a combination of many qualities I admire in loved ones, and her name comes from a family friend I had adored as a young girl.
In fact, she was the first person to visit me from beyond the veil, and her messages and signs continue on a regular basis to this day. She is proof, for me, that the enchantment of life is available right here, right now. So instead of asking what Elegant Evelyn would wear, I asked how she would move through life, and what I realized was that she would…
- keep a welcoming home.
- write thoughtful letters.
- choose conversation over distraction.
- notice the changing seasons.
gather flowers for the table. - use “the good stuff.”
find beauty in ordinary days. - and most importantly, she would live with a deep sense of self-possession.
I Would Love to Write You a Letter...
I have always loved to write letters and stories. And I have always loved the forest. There is a mysticism to nature — the way a message arrives on an ordinary walk if I’m willing to notice it. Writing and the forest have become the same practice for me now: I go out, I listen, and I come home and put it into words.
That’s what Letters From Wildwood actually is. Each month, I walk into this forest, listen for whatever wants to be heard, and write it down — a message, a story, a small spell to carry with you, a little enchantment for your own home. It is, quite simply, everything I love most, folded into an envelope and sent to your door.
If your heart delights in quiet forest mornings, meaningful signs, handwritten letters, candlelight, and the enchantment of nature and beauty, welcome to Letters From Wildwood — messages and stories from the forest, delivered by post.
