It’s later in the evening as I write to you and the sound of little icy snowdrops is the perfect music outside my window. A cozy December night with less than one week from the Winter Solstice.
Have you had a bit of a topsy turvy few days? Perhaps it’s due to our full moon coupled withe Mercury Retrograde. Either way, it’s a good time to avoid big decisions, ground yourself, and indulge in simple pleasures.
Speaking of simple pleasures, be sure to read to the end for my Daly Gem of the day which highlights one of my favorite shows around home decor (thank you Joni for introducing me to it!)
Updates are in order….
#6 Principle: Harmony
The day kicked off with a walk with the hounds through the forest which always gets me tuned into peace.
#10 Principle: Shelter
The entrance to where you call home tells a story about who you are and what you love. Whether it’s a small hallway or an expansive foyer, you can place some of your favorite things in this space to give insight into you own personal style.
As you see below, I love nature, decor books, cookbooks, and of course creating my own floral arrangements from simple bunches of greens and flowers from the grocery store.
P.S. The mural is replica of an antique Swedish tapestry and I had it in my last home… love it!
Designer Deb Barrett stopped by to strategize on a few things and offer up her genius ideas which are so incredibly unexpected and FANTASTIC! I look forward to sharing pictures soon in upcoming blog posts.
P.S. I just figured out how to insert more pictures lol…. so here is another one of my floral arrangements with my Grandmother’s cute little art deco piece.

#3 Principle: Pleasure
Then it was off to the movie set of a Hallmark movie… just kidding. I will say, however, it felt like one!
As I drove into the beautiful and vast cranberry marsh I was flooded with memories of being very young when we lived at my Grandparents marsh. The smell of engine oil, cranberry vines, and earth brings a sense of comfort. I know you are probably thinking, “engine oil??” But walking into the warehouse as a child was such a sensory experience.

The event at Rooted in Red was a PEO fundraiser for educational grants for women. I loved learning about the non-profit as well as enjoyed the band and acappella singers. Between the music, conversation, ambience, (and of course Christmas sweaters) I was in Hygge Heaven!
#9 Principle:Togetherness
The day ended with picking up pizza and salads for dinner with my Mom while watching one of our favorite shows on You Tube.
Which takes us to the “Daly Gem” (aka “simple pleasure”) for the day… Homeworthy!
I love this show. So many different homes all over the world. We watched a cozy Christmas episode tonight set in Ireland. You can watch it here or on You Tube.
Enjoy!
Until tomorrow…
Love,
Meg
P.S. Completely clueless on what Hygge is? If so, you can listen to my most recent podcast episode here to learn more
